Sayonara Japan

Day 8:

This was a sad yet exciting day for us as we had to bid farewell to Japan and make our trek to Thailand. It was a quiet yet hectic morning as I made my way cross town to the sword museum and Sue took in an onsen at the location near Andromeda's. She fully enjoyed the collagen bath and felt rejuvenated and ready for our upcoming plane ride. I got lost in the maze of streets near the sword museum, but a young couple that spoke English helped me locate it (with the assistance of some other locals that they asked). The sword museum was a small room on the upstairs floor of the building. Japanese swords were siezed as weapons of war and the art was stopped during the late 20s early 30s, but has since been restored. The swords on display ranged in date from the 13th century to the 19th century and displayed near perfection and very natural look in craftmanship, a very Japanese trait. I had wanted to purchase a sword while in Japan, but was unable. There may be some leads in Thailand though, more to come later if that comes to fruition.

We headed out to Narita airport and spent a couple hours in the gorgeous JAL business lounge. It was retro chic with two floors of dining and bars.

Our business class flight was just as enjoyable and even though we left almost an hour late, we arrived in Bangkok on time. We both took in Kung Fu Panda on our ride and recommend it as a must see for those interested.

Upon arrival in Bangkok (Kuntep to the locals), we secured a ride from the airport to our hotel (Imm Fusion). We pulled into our hotel (after getting lost and the driver calling the hotel for clearer directions) a bit before 1am. Tired and weary, we soon passed out in our king size bed and slept the night away.
